Sea Organ is situated near the new
cruiser port, as a part of Zadar's Riva,
and can be observed as a differently
shaped part of the coast which consists
of several stairs that descend into the sea.
This site is a blend of human ideas and skills and the energy of the sea, waves, tide and flood, a place for relaxation, contemplation and conversation while listening to a harmonies.
In the Zadar nucleus traces of the
past are everywhere: walls, towers,
imposing gates... To name a few:
Kapetanova kula (Captain's Tower),
Kopnena vrata (Land Gate) - a late Renaissance masterpiece, Palace of the Great Captain . The Land Gate was erected in the Renaissance style in 1543, according to the designs of Venetian architect Michele Sanmicheli, in the shape of a triumphal arch with three entrances. A wooden bridge on stone posts lead from the Land Gate to the Customs' Gate. The middle arch of the Land Gate bears a sculpted image of a mounted St. Krsevan, and a monumental lion of St. Mark above it.
On the other side of the Land Gate was the Citadel, 16th century fortress, which defended the town from the land side. Along Fosa leads a paved path near the monumental town walls, and ends on Obala Kralja Petra Kresimira IV.
The forum is the name given to
all main squares in the cities of the
ancient Roman Empire.
They later
developed into an episcopal complex with
the basilica and annexes, and were joined by
the rotunda in the Early Middle Ages, eventually destroying the complex of earlier erected buildings. In the course of history, the whole complex was reduced and the Kampa was built in its place.
The Kornati archipelago, the most
intented island group in the Mediterranean.
This real labyrinth of sea and rocks
comprises 140 uninhabited islands, islets
and reefs and has an area of altogether
70km2. In the immediate vicinity of the Kornati National Park
is yet another jewel of Croatia 's protected nature - the Telascic Nature Park.
Among the rivers in the Croatian karst
Krka is for sure the most fascinating one.
This river is known for its numerous
waterfalls which were created through the sedimentation of a special form of
limestone. The river partly flows through a deep canyon carved into a limestone plateau and partly forms lakes. The waterfalls of particular beauty are the Skradinski buk and the Roski slap.
The Plitvice National Park, the most
widely renowned of Croatia 's national parks,
part of the UNESCO Register of World
Natural Heritage. Sixteen lakes interco-
nnected by waterfalls created through the deposition of travertine constitute the chief attraction of this unique park. Apart from the lakes and forests the park also contains several caves, springs and flowering meadows
.
Paklenica includes the most attractive
sections of Southern Velebit with two
impressive canyons of Velika and Mala
Paklenica. In the relatively small area that comprises national park there are several remarkable karstic forms, a number of caves and also well preserved and extremely rich and varied flora and fauna.
Despite its wilderness
Park is easily accessible to visitors
.
